Presented by:

Becky Beaton-York, Ph.D., LPC, CPCS

Dr. Beaton-York has provided behavioral health services since 1991, and she has a true passion for ethics and supervision. She was the Ethics Chair & Supervision Chair for the Licensed Professional Counselor’s Association of Georgia (LPCA-GA) for two years and an instrumental part of creating the Certified Professional Counselors Supervisor credential (CPCS). She's been on the Georgia Psychological Association's Ethics Committee since 2010 and their Ethics Chair for eight of those years. Dr. Beaton-York has also taught Ethics and Advanced Supervision several times at Georgia State University and has been adjunct faculty for Emory's Department of Psychology since 2016. For Emory, she primarily provides ethics trainings for their faculty. She has also served as an ethics expert on several malpractice cases.

Dr. Beaton-York founded a large anxiety, OCD, and trauma practice in Atlanta that she ran from 2004-2019 until she sold it. Many of her ethics examples come from these 15 years of managing up to 40 clinicians and answering ethical dilemmas nearly daily. She has supervised several hundred people to licensure, including master's as well as doctoral-level clinicians. Dr. Beaton-York has also coached hundreds of group practice owners in consultation groups and individually since 2010. Literally, she has taught tens of thousands of therapists how to manage ethical issues in one form or another for the past 25 years. In other words, navigating ethical dilemmas is Becky's jam. :-) Since she loves ethics, teaching, and mentoring, this inspired her to start The Knowledge Tree. Furthermore, Dr. Beaton-York was voted Counselor Educator of the Year by LPCA-GA in 2005 and received their Lifetime Achievement Award in 2015.

Lastly, you may have seen "Dr. Becky" on one of the 60 episodes that she filmed as the featured psychologist on TLC's "Hoarding: Buried Alive." She has also made appearances on The Anderson Cooper Show, Good Morning America, CNN Headline News, and other media.

Nicole Thaxton, Ph.D., LPC, CPCS
Nicole Thaxton, PhD, LPC, CPCS, has one goal in life – to help people live life well. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor, and the Founder of Atlanta Wellness Collective, a holistic mental health practice located in Acworth, Marietta, and Roswell, GA. She is a communicator, trainer, and frequent continuing education presenter on the topic of clinical supervision. Her doctoral research was on the topic of conflicts in clinical supervision. She has spent the past decade in the mental health field and counsels high-achieving individuals and families experiencing anxiety and stress, grief and loss, and relational issues. Dr. Nicole is married to a fellow counselor, RJ Thaxton, and has two daughters (and a baby on the way!). For more information, visit atlwell.com.
